As a Liberal Jew and a practicing Nurse Midwife I am honored to be Mohel at Brisim of all Jewish families, including Gay and Lesbian families as well as Interfaith families raising Jewish children.  I use several techniques to increase the comfort of the baby boy including local anesthesia, a sucrose solution in sweet wine, and a mogen clamp, known as the fastest.  After the Bris I will stay with the family until the first diaper change and follow up with phone calls or a visit to the family. As a mother of four boys I know well how potentially overwhelming and important this experience is.  Mazal Tov!
